Anderson Valley, northern California. Old orchards. I have been photographing the same few trees for more than ten years now. They came to the valley with the first settlers in the 1850s. There's only one commercial orchard left - Gowans of Philo.

Here is one of my favorites. The tree is in the field next to our place up Mountain View Road. I have maybe 3000 photos of it from the last dozen years. A storm brought the tree down in June 2014. [Link]
